We held our tournament on Saturday November 8th. 54 players competed in Novices, Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, Challengers and Open sections. The open results are not recorded in full below, since the six players kindly organised and ran a double all-play-all tournament amongst themselves.
The following players qualify for the London finals in December:
U8 Joseph Boone, Cathy XUMax Sinclair won the novice trophy with Alex Howard winning the prize for the best Ipswich player. Max also won joint third place in the combined novices and under-eight section alongside Ethan Buege and Jordon May on 3.5 from 6. Cathy Xu was second in the section which was won by Joseph Boone who also took the Ipswich trophy.
There was a four-way tie in first place in the under-10 section with Albert Xu, Calum Andrews, Akito Oyama and Emmet Steggall all scoring 4.5. Albert won the Ipswich trophy while Emmet took the overall section trophy on tie-break.
In the under-12 section Charles Mitchell-Thurston won the Ipswich trophy on tie-break. Lewis Fowler and Adam Taylor of Colchester shared second place on 4 and Hugo Davis of Woodbridge won the section with a perfect score of 6 from 6.
Jonathan Keable and Callum Bennell shared third place in the challengers' section on 4. Robert Ling was second with 4.5 and Jordan Hale won both the section and Ipswich trophies with 5 from six.
The trophy for the best Suffolk newcomer was awarded to Andrew Tarrant who scored three in the challengers section. Shaun Munson was second in the open section which was won by David Spence.
